Milan Find New Goalkeeper in Paraguay, Keep Searching

Milan are about to announce a new goalkeeper, as they have acquired Devis Vasquez from Guaranì. He took the medicals ahead of the move Monday. The 24-year-old has starred in 31 matches for his previous club, allowing 44 goals and keeping 4 clean sheets.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Rossoneri would have completed the purchase regardless of Mike Maignan’s extended absence. With the aging Ciprian Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante on expiring contracts, they envision the newcomer being the third-stringer next season.

Guaranì president Emilio Daher revealed how much Milan spent for Vasquez to Sportitalia.

“They activated his release clause, paying $250k to us and the same amount to the player. We also received a $27k bonus for developing him.”

Per Sky, the signing won’t prevent Rossoneri from seeking a short-term fix at the position. They want an experienced shot-stopper, and they have set sights on Sergio Rico. He’s behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas in the pecking order at PSG. They’d onboard him on a six-month loan, and then he’d head back to deputize the Azzurri star in the future. He joined the French club in 2019 but has collected just 24 appearances. He spent time at Mallorca in the second half of last season.

Our Take on Milan Adding Vasquez

The timing is a little unfortunate for him, as they do have a need right now, but the signing might be a technically related for the rules about extra-EU players, and they had two spots open. Instead, somebody like Rico would be the best they could get given the circumstances.
