Milan Fringe Duo Courted by Turkish Powerhouse

Besiktas could play a major role in helping Milan get rid of several fringe players in the midst of an aggressive recruitment campaign. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Super Lig heavyweights plot a double swoop for the unwanted Rossoneri duo.

Ante Rebic and Junior Messias have drawn interest from Senol Gunes’ side after being deemed surplus to requirements at San Siro. Milan must make room for three high-profile attacking signings Samuel Chuwkueze, Christian Pulisic, and Noah Okafor.

Rebic and Messias may have to take the bullet. But they are not the only names linked with a summer exit. Charles De Ketelaere is another underachiever destined to sever ties with Milan in the coming weeks. For now, the Rossoneri will settle for the abovementioned duo’s sale.

Despite turning down a lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia, Rebic won’t be part of Stefano Pioli’s squad next season. Besiktas have made concrete steps to make that happen as they look to take him on loan with an option to buy. Milan won’t stand in their way.

Neither do they want to interfere in Messias’ exit. The 32-year-old has an offer from perennial Serie A mid-table tenants Torino on the table. However, Besiktas are hellbent on hijacking Il Toro’s move for the former Crotone forward.

Torino’s initial bid failed to satisfy Milan. Stefano Pioli’s men value their misfit at €10 million, while the Granata won’t go beyond half that figure to close the deal. That plays right into Besiktas’ hand.
