Milan Gather Info on Availability of Chelsea Midfielder

Milan took advantage of the recent double clash with Chelsea to inquire about Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Director Paolo Maldini is a fan of the midfielder and asked whether there was a chance he would depart in January following the coaching change, Calciomercato informs.

That doesn’t appear to be in the cards, as he started in three of the last four matches. Graham Potter plans to give him regular playing time and doesn’t want to trim the squad given the busy schedule and the multiple competitions they are in the running for.

Milan will likely make further attempts for Loftus-Cheek, and it’s possible the situation will change next summer. The two clubs are on excellent terms and could easily concoct deals that could be mutually beneficial.

Rather than the Englishman, the Pensioners could ship away another midfielder with Serie A ties in the next window. Denis Zakaria hasn’t logged a single minute since joining in a late loan move from Juventus. He was hand-picked by Thomas Tuchel, the publication informs. He has about a month to win over the new gaffer. The Pensioners remain likely to abide by the deal, but they won’t pick up the €28M option to sign him permanently come June.

Our Take on Milan Eyeing Loftus-Cheek

He has been tied to basically all the top Serie A sides in the past two years, but there’s really no reason for Chelsea to let go of a quality home-grown talent if not for a really sizeable fee, which is unlikely to come from the judicious Rossoneri, even though they could use a physical guy in the role. As for Zakaria, it’s tough to envision him having a future at Juventus without a coaching change.
