Milan Get in Touch with Chelsea to Inquire About Lukaku

Milan have reached out to Chelsea to see whether they could get Romelu Lukaku on loan to fill their hole at the no.9 position. The Blues aren’t open to such a solution at the moment. They are seeking a permanent sale, Gianluca Di Marzio relays.

The English team had the same posture last summer. They eventually agreed to send the Belgian striker to Roma temporarily to rid themselves of the issues. The two sides have a tight relationship considering the previous deals involving Fikayo Tomori, Christian Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Milan tested the waters for Lukaku but haven’t decided whether to pursue him seriously yet. The striker has been primarily linked to Napoli this summer, who will soon formally appoint Antonio Conte. The Partenopei would eventually need to buy him outright, as Chelsea aren’t interested in Victor Osimhen.

The marksman is drawing interest from Saudi Arabia again. He prefers staying in Europe if he has the chance to do so, Nicolò Schira informs. He has scored 21 goals in 47 matches with Roma in 2023/2024.

Our Take on Milan and Lukaku

Considering the options they have been linked to so far and their reported budget, it’d be quite an underwhelming outcome to their search. He’d only make sense for them if they paired him up with a touted prospect who’s green and needs time to adapt to Serie A and be ready to be their go-to guy. Though, the Chelsea outcast isn’t at the point of his career where he’s a backup yet.
