Milan Get Linked to Tottenham Wantaway Midfielder

Milan have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in their crosshairs as they are canvassing the market for the right midfielder to add to their squad. The Dane has been unhappy with his playing time for a while. He’s likely to leave this summer as his contract is up in 2025, Corriere dello Sport informed (via Fantacalcio).

The Rossoneri brass aim to sign a physical and defensive-minded midfielder. It wouldn’t hurt if he could play in front of the defense. They are poised to switch to a purer three-man line. The Spurs stalwart might be a better fit for that purpose and would be less expensive than two of their rumored targets, Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer and Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

Milan will have to spend around €20M to onboard Hojbjerg. Juventus and Napoli could also be interested under the right circumstances after tracking him in the past, especially the Bianconeri.

Fofana and Wieffer are worth €25/30M. There’s stiff competition for both, especially for the former. PSG, a few English sides, and the Old Lady are keen on the French youngster. The situation fuels his side’s demands even though he’s in the same contractual situation as the Tottenham outcast.

Our Take on Milan and Hojbjerg

It’s not one of their top priorities, but they could use another man there to be safe. They probably won’t splurge in this role. Paulo Fonseca will have to decide where to put Ismael Bennacer and Tijjani Reijnders first, which will inform them about which characteristics to look for. There are better chances the Dane finally moves to Serie A than in the past.
