Mike Maignan left the Liverpool game early after a collision with Fikayo Tomori, but he’s been relatively unscathed considering the circumstances. The Milan star has been diagnosed with a heavy contusion and will be a late call for the Derby. He might be able to start anyway, Il Mattino and multiple sources reported.
The shot-stopper has avoided serious knee injuries for a matter of inches considering the dynamic of the incident. He had also required medical attention because of an apparent muscular issue earlier in the game.
Maignan isn’t new to missing time. It’s actually his tenth physical problem since joining the Rossoneri, Calciomercato informs. The most severe one was a wrist lesion that knocked him out for a couple of months. He also had to spend time on the shelf due to calf strains a few times.
Deputy Marco Sportiello is currently sidelined as he damaged some ligaments in his hand in a domestic incident during the summer.
