Milan Going on the Offensive for Defender Pavlovic

Strahinja Pavlovic has become the top target to bolster the Milan defense. The Rossoneri are attempting to come to terms with him before opening the negotiation with RB Salzburg, as they have done in their other ongoing chases, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The club is in touch with his entourage. On top of being reliable in the back, he was a threat offensively in the past campaign, as he recorded 4 goals and 3 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, the talks with the Austrian side concerning Pavlovic will be far from easy. They signed him for €10M from Monaco two years ago. His valuation has risen to about €25M.

The Rossoneri continue working on their two other priority deals, Youssouf Fofana and Alvaro Morata. The former is waiting for them amid the interest from other clubs. He has turned down an offer from the Premier League in recent weeks. The Serie A side aims to pay less than €20M given his contractual situation. Instead, his club is asking for more for now.

Our Take on Milan and Pavlovic

He’d be a nice get, and it appears they are advancing even though none of their center-backs is close to leaving at this stage. It’s arguably what they should do after the injury woes that affected them for most of the past season. Striking a deal on personal terms is the least of their concerns, though, as he’s reportedly making €700/1M annually. Concurring to a fee will be the sticking point as they have been hard bargainers this summer.
