With Inter tying with Torino, Milan are no longer virtually top of the league. The Nerazzurri have a game in hand versus Bologna, which will be played at some point in April. But the Rossoneri are now four points clear of them and have three more than Napoli.
Milan collected the second straight one-nil victory against Empoli, something that had not happened since September 2019. They have recorded five in the season, trailing only Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus in such category, Il Giornale points out.
The Rossoneri are tied with the Old Lady for most points in the last five matchdays (11). Pierre Kalulu was their 16th goal scorer, which is a record in Serie A, TuttoSport reports. None of their strikers has reached the double-digit threshold yet. Olivier Giroud, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Rafael Leao have hit the net eight times. However, Milan have perfectly spread the wealth around.
They would be ahead of Inter and Napoli in case of a three-way finish, SportMediaset relays. If they ended up with the same points as one of the two rivals, they would best Nerazzurri and be on a par with the Azzurri. The goal difference would be the tie-breaker at that point. The Partenopei currently hold a narrow lead.
Milan are about to enter a favorable stretch of the schedule as they will face Cagliari, Torino, Bologna, and Genoa in the next four rounds. Instead, Inter will take on Fiorentina, Juventus, Verona, and Spezia. Napoli will defy Udinese, Fiorentina, Atalanta and Roma in the next six weeks.
