Milan icon Nelson Dida, who achieved all there is with the Rossoneri, has backed Mike Maignan to bounce back stronger than ever following an injury setback. The ex-Lille goalkeeper is currently struggling to recover from his calf injury as his recovery period has not gone according to plan.
Speaking to the official Serie A channel on YouTube, Dida has heaped praise on the Frenchman who joined Milan last summer.
“It was the first sight – since he saw me, he has embraced me. He told me about his goals and said, ‘Milan is an important team all over the world and I want to be able to wear this shirt and win’; these were his first words as soon as he saw me, so he is an incredible personality.” (via MilanNews)
He backed Maignan to return from his injury stronger than before.
“He will be stronger again. I spoke to him. He has time to prepare well, so our little conversation has been about this, about the two injuries he has had. He can still improve and can still do a lot with the Milan shirt”.
Dida finally backed the reigning Scudetto champions to conquer everything.
“He can conquer everything, a strong Milan full of guys who commit themselves. Every player who wears the Milan shirt wants to win, even the one who transmits – Pioli – he is one who gives trust to everyone. Milan is strong and always wants to win.”
Maignan has been restricted to just 9 appearances for the club this season. He has not appeared for Milan since playing in the 2-1 defeat to Napoli in September 2022.
