Milan in Two Minds As Pioli Seeks New Right-Back

Midtjylland’s Gustav Tang Isaksen could be an option for Milan if their pursuit of Adama Traore falls flat, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. Stefano Pioli is actively searching for a new right-back to address Davide Calabria’s shortcomings in the front third.

Traore has emerged as a decent solution after being released by Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month. Without a club, the 27-year-old speed demon should not have many problems finding a new arrangement. Given his physical attributes, he could be a valuable asset to numerous clubs, including Milan.

His agent Jorge Mendes has already pitched the Rossoneri with the idea of signing Traore on a free transfer. At the same time, the Portuguese super-agent has approached Roma with an identical proposal. It means Milan would have to fend off the Giallorossi to bring the Barcelona youth academy product to San Siro.

Despite mainly operating as a winger, Traore may need to accept a positional transformation to join Milan. His blistering speed and intimidating physical presence make him a viable candidate to deputy for Calabria on the right-back. But he isn’t the only player courted by Pioli.

Isaksen, who has spent his entire professional career at Midtjylland, is another profile considered by Milan. At 22, he’s a younger, albeit more enigmatic alternative to Traore. The Dane must have something special in him that has caught Pioli’s eye, though.

First things first, Milan would only intensify talks with Midtjylland after making a decision on Traore. Let’s not forget Torino’s Wilfried Singo, another prospect examined by the Rossoneri hierarchy.
