Strahinja Pavlovic is inching closer to joining Milan, with the Serie A runners-up preparing for pivotal talks with RB Salzburg. The Italian giants have whittled down the difference between supply and demand to only a couple of million.
According to Calciomercato, Milan are confident of closing the deal for Pavlovic at €18 million with €2m in bonuses. Salzburg’s initial request stood at €25m. However, the Austrians have lowered their demands and are now willing to sell their star center-back for €20m.
Milan and Pavlovic have already agreed on personal terms. The Serbia international can’t wait to link up with Paulo Fonseca’s team, green-lighting a multi-year contract offered by the Rossoneri. The Portuguese boss sees the 23-year-old as a vital defensive addition.
Pavlovic would not only replace Simon Kjaer at Sa Siro. He’d be an upgrade on the current defensive options. None of the three senior Milan center-backs are left-footed. Therefore, Fonseca believes he could be the missing piece to complete his jigsaw at the back.
In addition to Pavlovic, Milan are working on several other deals. His international colleague Lazar Samardzic could also move to the fashion capital this summer. Talks between Milan and Udinese are underway, with the 22-year-old midfielder keen on a move.
Elsewhere, Milan could soon intensify their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug. The German veteran has emerged as the club’s top priority to strengthen their attacking department. But they’d need to overcome stiff competition from Atletico Madrid.
