Milan have been a little shaky in the back during the summer friendlies and are considering making a move for Clement Lenglet to shore up their rearguard. He’s back at Barcelona following a season on loan at Tottenham.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), the veteran has a €10M price tag. The Blaugrana are open to discussing the formula and the fee since they aren’t planning to lean on him for the upcoming season.

Contrary to what they have done in different roles, Milan are probing Lenglet and not younger players because they already have multiple starlets in such a role, the publication informs. They offloaded Matteo Gabbia but have four other center-backs.

The Frenchman featured 35 times with the Spurs in the past campaign, but they elected not to pick their option to buy. He joined Barcelona from Sevilla for €36M in 2018. He has 15 caps with France under his belt.

Our Take on Milan and Lenglet

The Rossoneri continue to be linked with defenders, but they are potentially set in the role. Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw are naturally primed to get better, and Fikayo Tomori still has room to grow. The only way an addition makes sense is if Simon Kjaer doesn’t want to be the fourth wheel anymore and asks out. However, they’d sign somebody less cumbersome than the Blaugrana outcast if that were the case.
