Milan Inquire Real Madrid for Asensio Amid English Interest

Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio is in line in for a move away from the European champions, having fallen out of favor under coach Carlo Ancelotti, and Milan are among the sides eyeing him. The 26-year-old is behind Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde in the pecking order, and only a transfer can boost his chances of starring for Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

One of the teams in pole position for forcing a deal is Milan, with technical director Paolo Maldini already inquiring with Ancelotti regarding the forward’s availability. However, Corriere dello Sport also pitches in the presence of Max Allegri’s Juventus in the transfer race, along with three Premier League giants in Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester United.

The English teams are reportedly ready to offer what Real Madrid demand for Asensio – an asking price in the range of €30-40M – unlikely to deter their coffers, in stark contrast to Milan and Juventus. The Mallorca-born attacker’s six-year contract expires in the summer of 2023, which would force Los Blancos to cash in on his services than see him leave for free at the end of next season.

The Spaniard has a big decision to make come July when he enters the final year of his contract. As per Cadena Ser, the only way the Spanish champions will make him stay is via a pay-rise and a deal no less than three years, but despite that, there is no guarantee of playing time in the white shirt anymore.
