Milan have met with the agents of Mario Mandzukic and are attempting to bring him back to Serie A, transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio and Alfredo Pedullà reported. The 34-year-old striker has been without a team since July after rescinding the contract with Al-Duhail, where he played for six following his time at Juventus.
According to Pedullà, Mandzukic is atop of the list of options to back up Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao and that the negotiation is at advanced stages. The player has been linked to several teams in the last few days, especially Turkish ones, and is open to joining Milan. Di Marzio informed that the two sides will now look to reach agreement on the contract. He is the third forward they pursued in January after Gianluca Scamacca and Leonardo Pavoletti.
In other Milan news, Soualiho Meite is getting closer and closer to transferring on loan with option to buy from Torino: he could take the medicals as soon as Thursday, Sky Sport reported. On the other hand, the club is mulling whether to move forward with the acquisition of Mohamad Simakan after Strasbourg announced the defender will miss two months with a knee injury.
Finally, the busy Rossoneri are making progress on the extension of Hakan Calhanoglu as they convened again with his representative, upping their offer to €4M per year and a resolution could come next week, Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
