The hunt for midfield reinforcements by Milan has taken them all the way to Argentina, as Enzo Fernandez is on the Rossoneri’s radar for a summer move. The River Plate starlet has emerged as one of South America’s most talented young center-halves in 2022, having registered 14 goal contributions for the Argentine giants in 20 appearances.
As per Calciomercato, Milan have scouted the class of 2001 several times, but they are not the only Italian suitors keeping tabs on the prodigy, as Juventus are also in line. Several other unnamed European clubs have also been mentioned in the report.
However, Enzo Fernandez is not a priority for Milan at the moment. It is Lille midfield ace Renato Sanches who takes the spotlight of replacing Barcelona-bound Franck Kessié. Negotiations for the Portuguese are underway, and he is expected to arrive at San Siro next season. In case of a reversal, the 21-year-old would certainly be an affordable target. His contract at River Plate expires only at the end of 2025. His transfermarkt value of €15M seems well within reach of the Rossoneri management.
