Milan Join Tottenham in Race for Bournemouth Defender

The massive injuries suffered by Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino will force Milan to revise their January plans and target a defender. On top of Maxime Esteve, Lloyd Kelly and Kostantinos Koulierakis are also on their wish list, TuttoSport informs.

The Englishman could be a bargain since his contract runs out in 2024. He’s 25 and can play also as a fullback. The Rossoneri recently reached out to his agents to inquire. Tottenham are after him too, though. He has made 123 appearances with Bournemouth, tallying 3 goals and 7 assists.

Milan don’t plan to splurge on a defender. That might exclude a run at Koulierakis, who has a €10M price tag. They tracked him in the summer but preferred signing the cheaper Pellegrino. He has scored 3 goals in 13 games with PAOK so far in 2023/2024.

The Rossoneri also need a Theo Hernandez deputy. While they are trying to snap up Juan Miranda, Kelly and Esteve would be able to handle those duties as well.

Our Take on Milan Searching For a Defender

They are in a tricky spot because they do need an extra man, but they shouldn’t go all-out since he wouldn’t be a regular. Perhaps they’ll bring in somebody on loan. A left-footed center-back that would hold his own on the flank too would catch two birds with one stone.
