Milan & Juventus Going Head-to-Head for Sassuolo Davide Frattesi

Juventus will reportedly have to beat the competition from Milan to sign sought-after Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri are assessing the prospect of placing a loan bid for the highly-rated Italian youngster.

Despite being linked with a return to his boyhood club Roma for most of the summer, Frattesi has yet to leave Sassuolo. Following Gianluca Scamacca’s departure for West Ham United, the Neroverdi are not interested in offloading more first-team stars.

But Frattesi could soon be on his way out of the Mapei Stadium, with Milan and Juventus going head-to-head for his signature. The reigning Serie A champions need to address their midfield woes in light of Franck Kessie’s exit and Sandro Tonali’s muscle injury.

Juventus are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old. Yet, they need to free up room in the midfield before launching an assault for the Sassuolo talisman. It gives Milan the upper hand as Paolo Maldini looks to accelerate a deal with the Emilia-Romagna outfit.

Milan would like to take Frattesi on loan with an obligation to buy. Though it remains to be seen whether Sassuolo would agree to such terms, the Rossoneri are ready to move forward.

But there’s no doubt that Maldini will have to open up the checkbook to convince his Mapei counterparts to green-light a deal. Milan can ill-afford to waste more time on their search for a new midfielder, with the 2022/23 Serie A curtain-raiser against Udinese just behind the corner.

The whole situation involving Frattesi seems like a soap opera, but there’s a feeling he will leave Sassuolo in the coming weeks.
