Milan Keen to Get Rid of Fringe Duo

Milan are reportedly keen to offload fringe duo Samu Castillejo and Andrea Conti before the end of the summer transfer window. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri are aiming to get rid of several outcasts to make room for new additions.

Castillejo and Conti are the leading candidates to spearhead the departures, but finding suitors for the out-of-favor duo could be daunting. Neither player has impressed Stefano Pioli during the off-season campaign, and Milan would like to move them both in the ongoing transfer window.

Castillejo, who enjoyed a fair share of game time last season, has attracted plenty of interest from La Liga. In addition to Getafe and Real Betis, the Spaniard’s former employers Villarreal have also emerged as a potentially interested party. However, Milan have yet to receive any formal bid for the 26-year-old winger.

As for Conti, he endured a topsy-turvy 2020/21 loan spell at Parma. A series of injury setbacks restricted his playing time in Emilia-Romagna to 14 Serie A outings. That, coupled with Parma’s relegation to Serie B, forced the right-back’s return to the San Siro.

However, Conti is not part of Pioli’s plans in Lombardy. With the Italian’s contract running out at the end of next season, Milan are keen to cash in on him this summer. A lack of interest in his services remains a sticking point, though.

The Rossoneri are on the verge of signing Alessandro Florenzi from Roma. His arrival is likely to push Conti further down the pecking order, enhancing the prospect of a summer break-up.
