Milan Lay Eyes on Touted Talent Set to Depart Lazio

Luka Romero will leave Lazio on a free and is attracting a few clubs, including Milan. The 18-year-old winger has basically played the same amount of minutes with Argentina in the recent U-20 World Cup as with the Biancocelesti in the entire past season.

Per Corriere dello Sport, the starlet is on his way out because his agent Fali Ramadami requested a hefty commission to prolong his expiring contract. The club had signed him for cheap, €200k, from Mallorca in the summer of 2021. He has appeared 21 times with the first team since, scoring once.

According to Relevo (via OneFootball), Milan face competition from a few Spanish sides to capture the Romero. The talks with his entourage are at a good point. Whether he’d stay put or be loaned out to garner experience remains to be seen. That could be a factor in his choice.

The prodigy primarily plays on the right wing, a position the Rossoneri aim to bolster with Samuel Chukwueze. Since multiple teams are tracking him, they’ll have to shell out at least €20M to make Villarreal cave, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Our Take on Romero and Milan

He had some decent flashes but ultimately played too little to be adequately judged. His young age and the terms of the signing make him an intriguing target. However, reports suggest his camp wants a €5M signing bonus, so he wouldn’t come gratis. Juventus should be in on him too, especially if they let Matias Soulé leave. He could use reps in their Next Gen squad.
