Milan Lead Atalanta in Race for Wolfsburg Midfielder

Milan have keyed on Aster Vranckx to plug their hole in the midfield. They seem to have moved on from Jean Onana, as they couldn’t land him on loan. They are in talks with Wolfsburg, but they aren’t alone in that respect.

As per Sky, the Rossoneri offered a temporary spell with an €11.5M option to buy, while the counterpart asked to set it a €13M. They could proceed even if Tiemoué Bakayoko stayed put. The outcast is now in Monza and Olympique Lyonnais’ crosshairs, which have to negotiate the terms with Chelsea.

Micheal Meeske, the managing director of the Bundesliga team, discussed Milan and Atalanta eyeing Vranckx to Wolfsburger Nachrichten (via Calciomercato).

“We can understand why he’s unsatisfied, as a youngster would like to feature constantly. We’ll see what happens in the final days of the window.”

According to the publication, the Rossoneri will soon have a meeting with the intermediaries. But La Dea is very keen on the player too. The 19-year-old moved to Germany from KV Mechelen for €8M in 2021. He has accumulated 29 appearances, starting 16 times and scoring once. He had logged 5 goals and 4 assists in 38 matches in Belgium.

As for Onana, instead, he could surprisingly wind up at Spezia. They have tendered €5M plus a 10 percent sell-on clause, Footmercato informs. Inter are helping them in the deal, Il Secolo XIX reports (via Tuttomercatoweb).

Our Take on Milan Tracking Vranckx

It appears that they have invested the Lucas Paquetá windfall for Malick Thiaw, so they will sign somebody on loan in the midfield. The Belgian talent would be among the most unproven options among those linked to them. It wouldn’t be shocking if somebody emerged out of the blue late.
