Milan Most Likely to Sign Liverpool Outcast on Free Transfer

Belgian forward Divock Origi has fallen behind new Liverpool signing Luis Diaz in Jurgen Klopp’s team sheet, and the 26-year-old is bound to leave the Reds at the end of the season. The former Lille man, who is most famously known for his semi-final and final performances in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League, has appeared just 14 times at Anfield this season – scoring 5 goals and assisting 3 times.

Amid his exit links, Milan, who were linked with him before, have emerged as favourites to grab him on a free transfer in the summer transfer market (via Calciomercato). Technical director Paolo Maldini is understood to be a fan of the Belgian international, especially since his goalscoring performance at the San Siro in the group stages of this year’s Champions League.

It is reported that the Milan management have given the green light for a formal offer to be made. His Liverpool contract consists of a performance option, which includes a clause that will automatically trigger a one-year extension if he manages to start a specific number of games in the Premier League.

However, he has not started a single match this season.

Few other Premier League clubs are also interested in Origi, but his interest to play at one of Europe’s most decorated clubs is bar none.

He has scored 40 goals for Liverpool in 171 appearances in his seven seasons in Merseyside.
