Youssouf Fofana has been one of the few certainties for Milan in their seesawing start to the season. The Frenchman believes the Rossoneri are in the running for major objectives despite their distance from the top of the table. He talked with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We’d like to be higher and picked up some results that were less positive. However, it means that we can still improve a lot and be less unbalanced. The other sides will have to deal with us when we find continuity. I believe in the work of our coach and the quality of my teammates. I’m sure we are on the right track.”
Fofana stated that Milan still had their sights on the Scudetto.
“Sure, we have to compete for it each season. Give us some time, and you’ll see where we are later on.”
The midfielder was quizzed about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“He explained me the project and Milan’s importance to him and Serie A. He deeply cares about the new course. Before matches, he always gives us some advice. He’s present, upbeat, and conveys confidence. I was expecting this quality when I joined. I knew some of my teammates from the Euro, for instance Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao.”
Fofana previewed the clash with Juventus coming up after the break.
“It’s like a Debry for its intensity on the pitch and in the stands. Thiago Motta is an excellent coach. He did a great job with Bologna last season, qualifying for the Champions League. He has more quality at his disposal now, so it’s normal for him to bring them to the top. It’ll be a tight game, and the best team will prevail.”
