Milan Line Up Shock Bid for Bundesliga Veteran

Serie A runners-up Milan are determined to acquire the services of a top-class center-forward in the coming weeks. As their search expands, the list of names grows larger, with Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug emerging as the latest candidate to replace Olivier Giroud.
According to Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have reportedly taken the Germany international under consideration following his eye-catching form at EURO 2024. However, this suggestion does require a grain of salt.
Milan could complete a long-rumored signing of Alvaro Morata after EURO 2024. All pieces seem to be in place as the Italians look destined to rescue the Spain captain from Atletico Madrid. But the 31-year-old alone will not quench Paulo Fonseca’s thirst for a new striker.
Joshua Zirkzee was supposed to be a long-term solution, but he’s on the verge of joining Manchester United. Therefore, Milan must cast a wider net to find a proper replacement for Giroud. Fullkrug does fit the bill. Fonseca could use his physical attributes and a keen eye for goal.
But like Morata, the ex-Werder Bremen star is already 31. He has spent his entire senior career in the Bundesliga, joining Borussia Dortmund only last summer. Fullkrug enjoyed a decent first season at Signal Iduna Park, managing 16 goals and ten assists across 46 appearances.
In addition to Milan, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce consider making an offer for Fullkrug. The player is reportedly open to leaving Dortmund after just one year, with a shock move to the Stadio San Siro potentially on the cards.
