Milan-Linked Lens Star Coy on Transfer Market Chatter

Milan are hard at work to find a new midfielder, and Seko Fofana has become a viable candidate. The ex-Udinese man has shined at Lens in the two most recent seasons. The Rossoneri are primarily eyeing youngsters, but they will also consider veterans at the right price.

The 27-year-old addressed the rumors to FootMercato.

“I’m here at Lens for now, and I’m very happy to train with my teammates to improve my conditioning. That’s the current situation, but everything is possible. I want to have fun and go after whatever I can. The window is open and there is a lot to think about. You can tell yourself that you will stay or leave, but you never know for sure.”

On top of Milan, Fofana was previously linked to PSG, but they are unlikely to pursue him after signing Renato Sanches and with Fabian Ruiz now in their crosshairs. As for the Portuguese international, they won the race mostly because they offered him €6M wages, which the Rossoneri were unwilling to match, DAZN reports.

The Ivorian international has 112 Serie A appearances under his belt, where he tallied 13 goals and 11 assists. He transferred to France for €8.5M in 2020. He has continued to put up numbers at Lens, as he has hit the net 12 times and set up 7 teammates in 74 matches. On the other hand, his €20M valuation might not entice the Scudetto winners.

Our Take on Milan and Fofana

It’s uncertain how much the Rossoneri can spend for such role. While they have options, one more reliable and well-established guy wouldn’t hurt. Though, it would be an atypical signing given his age, price tag and their usual MO.
