Milan Loanee Diaz Inches Closer to Real Madrid Return

European giants Milan and Real Madrid are involved in a tussle for one of the continent’s most gifted youngsters. Brahim Diaz has witnessed drastic growth since his move to the Rossoneri two seasons ago, playing a key part in the club’s Scudetto win last campaign.

Diaz is currently in his second and final year of loan from Los Blancos, but Milan do not want to see him leave at the end of the season, as they plan to cash €22M – the buy-in clause – for the player’s services. However, inclusion of a buy-back clause for Real Madrid could see them lure Diaz for just €5M more.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo (via Calciomercato), Real Madrid want Diaz as part of the squad for the 2023/24 season, so much so that they have a contract prepared for him to sign until the summer of 2027 – a two-year extension from his current deal at the club.

It is understood that the Rossoneri’s say in this matter will be limited due to the legal obligations at hand.

The reigning European champions seek to reinforce the squad with young talent, with Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio perhaps leaving at the end of the season.
