Milan Made Contact for Ukraine International Roman Yaremchuk

Milan have reportedly established contacts with Belgian outfit Gent over Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk. According to Italian journalist Alessandro Jacobone, talks between Paolo Maldini and the Jupiler Pro League side over the 25-year-old are underway.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new striker to provide cover to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will remain on the sidelines for two months after going knee surgery.

Milan are also looking to offload Portuguese forward Rafael Leao. The 22-year-old has failed to live up to expectations and could be on his way out in the summer.

Meanwhile, Yaremchuk had an impressive season at Gent, racking up 23 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances in 2020/21. He has continued to reel off eye-catching displays at Euro 2020, getting on the scoresheet in both outings for Ukraine in Group C. Indeed, the ex-Dynamo Kyiv man has been one of the standout individuals at the tournament under Andriy Shevchenko.

It’s understood that the former Milan striker has recommended his compatriot to the Rossoneri. Yaremchuk would be available for a figure close to €15-16million, though the Serie A giants are looking for a loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

Before taking an interest in Yaremchuk, the seven-time European Cup winners had their eyes laid on sought-after Fiorentina starlet Dusan Vlahovic. However, the Serbia international is likely to command a hefty price tag on the back of a remarkable season at Artemio Franchi.

Juventus and several clubs from abroad are keen on landing the 21-year-old marksman, who seems to be out of reach for Milan at the moment.
