Milan Might Add New Striker, Hold Talks for Nantes Youngster

Milan might decide to bring in a new striker in January. The aging Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud have dealt with multiple physical problems so far. Pietro Pellegri has not been a reliable backup as he suffered a few injuries as well. He could be on his way out in the next window.

Director Paolo Maldini recently had a meeting with the agents of Randal Kolo Muani, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Nantes forward was on their radar last summer as well, but they did not come to terms with his club. He has only a few months left on his contract and could depart for cheap.

The 23-year-old has bagged 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 Ligue 1 matches so far. Milan filed his candidacy away in case they did opt to sign a new striker. Pellegri is currently nursing a thigh injury and could be out past the winter break. The Rossoneri might terminate the loan spell early, sending him back to Monaco. Torino and Genoa would pursue him should that happen. Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao will also need some time to be in form.

Stefano Pioli addressed the January window in a presser: “The club has always been alert. If there will be an opportunity to improve, we will do it.” A new striker is not the priority for Milan, as they will have to replace Simon Kjaer and possibly bolster the midfield. They are also keeping tabs on some targets for next summer, such as Julian Alvarez and Udinese’s Beto, Calciomercato.com reports.
