Milan Monitoring Blackburn Attacker on Expiring Deal

Milan are starting to put together a shortlist of strikers to target either in January or next June, and Brereton Diaz represents the latest addition. Olivier Giroud isn’t getting any younger, there are no guarantees on when Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return, if at all, and Ante Rebic and Divock Origi have struggled to stay healthy.

As per Estadio Esportivo (via Tuttomercatoweb), the Rossoneri are among the sides tracking the Chilean forward. They figure to be more interested in a possible Bosman addition. His contract with Blackburn expires at the end of the season. He’s been at the club since 2018. He has posted 39 goals and 13 assists in 144 appearances. The 23-year-old has 14 caps and 4 goals with his national team.

Brereton Diaz is currently being coached by former Milan marksman John Dahl Thomasson. Several sides are eyeing him given his status, in particular Sevilla. Salernitana attempted to bring him to Serie A last summer. However, they didn’t manage to strike a deal.

The Rossoneri have also been linked to Armando Broja in the last few days. While they aren’t necessarily worried about Rafael Leao departing soon amid highly thorny extension talks, Noa Lang and Hakim Ziyech would be viable targets if they were to lose him down the line, Corriere della Sera informs.

Our Take on Milan Eyeing Brereton Diaz

The Scudetto winners botched the no.9 role in the summer. They should have brought in somebody more reliable than Origi and more similar to Giroud to have an optimal alternation. The Chilean doesn’t entirely fit the profile either. However, he could be an intriguing heir to Rebic if they decided to move on from him.
