Milan Mull Old Targets to Replace Oft-Injured Defender

Pierre Kalulu is back on the shelf with another significant injury, and Milan are growing concerned. He previously missed four months due to a tendon tear in his thigh. Since he hasn’t been reliable from the physical standpoint, the Rossoneri might cash in on him for a good offer, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.

The youngster would be a full plusvalenza since he was signed for very cheap, €1.29M, from Olympique Lyonnais back in 2020. He has amassed 109 appearances, 3 goals, and 3 assists. He’s slated to miss four-to-six weeks due to an MCL sprain in his right knee. He has played just eight times this season.

While the future of Kalulu is uncertain and Simon Kjaer is unlikely to stay, Milan plot to build their defense around Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, and Matteo Gabbia. They’d need to be blown away by mammoth bids to part ways with the first two.

The Rossoneri have earmarked Jakub Kiwior and Trevoh Chalobah should they shore up the position. They kicked the tires on the former and Alessandro Buongiorno in January. However, their price tags were substantial, and Arsenal and Torino didn’t want to lose them. Instead, the Chelsea outcast is worth €10/15M.

Our Take on Milan and Kalulu

It has been overshadowed by injuries, but he has regressed in the last two seasons, and Thiaw has understandably become the top Tomori partner. Still, he’s young enough to bounce back, and his versatility is an asset.
