Milan and Napoli could reportedly go head-to-head in hot pursuit of sought-after Lecce prodigy Patrick Dorgu this winter. According to Calciomercato, the two Italian powerhouses have set their sights on the versatile 20-year-old winger.
Signing Dorgu as an unknown entity from Danish outfit Nordsjelland in the summer of 2022 could prove the best piece of business Lecce have done in the past two decades. Widely considered among the hottest prospects in Serie A, Dorgu has attracted interest from numerous top clubs, including Napoli and Milan.
Antonio Conte has emerged as Dorgu’s big-time admirer. The new Partenopei manager appreciates the young gun’s impressive physical attributes and versatility. On top of that, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has been keeping close tabs on Dorgu’s progress since his stint at Juventus.
On the other hand, it’s no secret that Milan are in the market for a vice-Theo Hernandez. With the Frenchman pulling the plug on renewal talks after falling out of favor with new boss Paulo Fonseca, last season’s Serie A runners-up are frantically scouring the market as they prepare for a worst-case scenario.
Despite starting his career as a winger, capable of performing on both flanks equally well, Dorgu has transformed into a dependable full-back during his relatively brief spell at Lecce. However, he won’t leave cheap. In addition to Milan and Napoli, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the mix.
Therefore, Lecce could reportedly ask for up to €40 million for their most prized asset.
