Milan want to lock up Theo Hernandez, and the management is on the cusp of coming to terms with the star. After a lengthy drought, the French international has scored three times in the last three matches. He wore the captain’s armband in the most recent two with Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessié missing.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara admitted that the extension is among the club’s priorities. The legend stated while meeting some fans: “The talks are on the right path. We started them early, but it is not always easy to strike a deal.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Milan offered the star defender a five-year contract with a €4M base salary, plus €1M potential add-ons. Hernandez would nearly triple what he is making now. The parties had a key summit in Madrid before the Champions League clash with Atletico.

The fullback confirmed the rumors yesterday after bagging a brace against Venezia: “I think the negotiation for the new contract is going well. I have been happy here since day one. We are discussing it.” PSG pursued him at length last summer, but he did not provide an opening, nor the club had any intention of selling him, the site adds.

Milan acquired Hernandez from Real Madrid for €21.5M in 2019. He has accumulated 103 appearances since then, netting 19 goals and providing 18 assists. He is currently under contract until 2024 at a reasonably low salary. The front office decided to act early to avoid any doubt.
