Milan Officially Confirm Reijnders Deal with AZ Alkmaar

Tijjani Reijnders touched down in Milan Monday night and proceeded with the medicals and the signature on the contract with his new team in the next two days. He had brief remarks to the journalists before boarding the flight (via La Gazzetta dello Sport).

“Coming here was easy. I said yes after the first call. My dream is to win the Scudetto and the Champions League.”

The midfielder has inked a five-year contract with the Rossoneri and will wear no.14. He played in all 54 matches with AZ Alkmaar in the past season. Milan will pay a €20M fee plus €5M add-ons for Reijnders. He’ll earn €1.7M net.

The 24-year-old will be the second addition in the role after Ruben Loftus-Cheek and the fifth total signing. Il Diavolo has purchased Marco Sportiello, Luka Romero, and Christian Pulisic so far in a busy transfer market window. They sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United and won’t have Ismael Bennacer for the first half of the season due to injury.

Our Take on Milan and Reijnders

They zeroed in on him and didn’t give up the chase despite some resistance, which underlined how much they liked him. He shined in a second-tier team and was no slouch in Europe, so the transition shouldn’t be too abrupt, but the role is very delicate.
