Milan on Red Alert as Ligue 1 Midfielder Leaves Club for Free

New Milan boss Paulo Fonseca is on red alert after his former Lille pupil Yusuf Yazici announced he’s leaving France. The Portuguese manager is intimately familiar with the versatile forward’s qualities and reportedly contemplates taking him to San Siro.

Yazici wasn’t always Fonseca’s first choice at Lille. However, the Turkey international made 42 appearances last season, bagging 12 goals. With Fonseca gone, the 27-year-old is ready to embark on a new chapter in his career. Coincidentally, Milan could provide an opportunity.

Now a free agent, Yazici wouldn’t cost a dime. Therefore, Milan could give it serious thought. The Turkish attacking midfielder might be enthusiastic about continuing his career in Serie A. However, it largely depends on the system Fonseca will instill in Lombardia.

Signing an attacking midfielder isn’t a priority for Milan. They’re poised to find a dependable replacement for Olivier Giroud, who joined Los Angeles FC. While pursuing a deal for Bologna talisman Joshua Zirkzee, the 19-time Italian champions scour the market for a new holding midfielder.

It’s said Yacine Adli could leave Milan in the coming months. On top of that, Ismael Bennacer’s proneness to injuries forces the Rossoneri to strengthen their midfield options. Several names are on the club’s shortlist already.

Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana is among the top targets for Milan. But the competition for the 25-year-old’s signature is stiff. Outgoing Juventus stalwart Adrien Rabiot could be a cheaper alternative. Yet, while the Rossoneri would avoid paying a transfer fee, they’d still need to offer the Frenchman a lucrative contract to lure him to San Siro.
