Milan Opened Talks for Eredivisie Star Forward

Milan have reportedly set their sights on Ajax captain and headline performer Dusan Tadic to reinforce the attacking department. As reported by Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have laid the groundwork for the Serb’s arrival.

Tadic has already given his consent as Milan look to cut short his second stint in the Eredivisie. Further confirmation about the Italians’ interest in the 32-year-old forward arrived today from Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews), who insists the Rossoneri are seriously considering making a move for the Serbia international.

Tadic has established himself as a household name in Amsterdam since returning to the Netherlands from Southampton in 2018. He has racked up a staggering 76 goals and 70 assists in 149 appearances for Ajax overall en route to becoming the club captain and one of the fan favorites at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

The ex-Groningen attacker tallied 14 goals and 17 assists in 34 Eredivisie outings, adding another seven strikes in other competitions back in 2020/21. Milan have already opened talks with Ajax over Tadic’s potential summer move to Serie A. The Italians are on the lookout for a prolific playmaker to replace Hakan Calhanoglu.

Despite returning to the Champions League following an eight-year hiatus, the Rossoneri are operating on a tight budget. With two years left to run on his contract, Tadic would command a sizeable price tag, especially considering his value to Ajax.

However, Paolo Maldini is hopeful of getting the deal over the line after receiving the go-ahead from the player. Tadic’s quality has never been brought into question, though his age is likely to make him only a short-term solution for Milan.
