Milan Outcast Could Stay Put After All Despite Talks with CSKA Moscow

Milan are trying to sell Samu Castillejo, but the negotiation with CSKA Moscow is progressing slowly. There have been recent contacts between the clubs, but they are not close to reaching an agreement, and the deal might fall through, Calciomercato.com reports.

Milan would have preferred to sell him permanently right away, while the Russian club asked for him on loan, at most with an option to buy. The Rossoneri are trying to get a €1M fee to send him on a temporary spell. However, the counterpart only wants to take care of his wages for the ongoing season.

The transfer market window closes later today in Russia, and there might not be enough time to come to terms. Both teams would have to significantly revise their stances for it to happen. Milan have clearly moved from Castillejo, who was severely outplayed by Alexis Saelemaekers in the past campaign.

On top of that, they signed Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias, who can both feature as right winger. According to Tuttosport, the Spaniard is not exactly thrilled about the destination, and that is not facilitating the talks. Milan are still hoping for a last-minute raise, but it is not certain it will indeed come, Eurostavka.ru reports.

Castillejo joined Milan from Villarreal in €21M move in 2018. He accumulated 109 appearances over the last few years, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists. Milan decided to exclude him from their Champions League list for the group stage since they believe to have enough options in his role.
