Milan Outcast Draw Interest from Besiktas

Milan outcast Ante Rebic could find refuge in the Turkish Super Lig after Besiktas initiated talks with the Rossoneri. According to Turkish outlet SportsDigitale, via GOAL Italia, the Turks have submitted a loan bid for the 29-year-old, who is on the fringes of Stefano Pioli’s project.

Rebic tumbled down the pecking order at San Siro last season. Demoted to the bench, the Croatia international was mainly a substitute. As such, it’s a little wonder he only scored three times in 31 matches across all competitions.

His underwhelming exploits at Milan have compromised his national team prospects. With Euro 2024 around the corner, Rebic is desperate to leave for regular first-team football elsewhere. Besiktas are willing to offer him an escape route from Italy but only on loan.

Milan won’t stand in their way. Several attacking players have to go to make room for the newcomers. Noah Okafor is inches away from signing a contract at San Siro. Villarreal ace Samuel Chukwueze will follow soon as the Rossoneri found a breakthrough in long-standing talks with the Spaniards.

To avoid bloating their squad, Milan are also working on the outgoings. Rebic is the first candidate to accommodate the new arrivals. But he’s not the only forward expected to cut ties with Pioli’s team this summer. Charles De Ketelaere and Junior Messias are also at risk.

Both players underperformed last season, falling out of Pioli’s plans for the 2023/23 campaign. But Milan will first try to ship Rebic out.
