Milan outcast Yacine Adli has reportedly drawn ‘concrete’ interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab, but the player doesn’t fancy a move. According to Calciomercato, the Saudi Arabian giants have drawn up a €14 million offer for the Frenchman, yet the midfielder is reluctant to depart the Stadio San Siro.
Adli had a decent 2023/24 season, racking up one goal and two assists in 1860 minutes of action across 33 appearances. However, he has no future in Lombardia, as the new Milan manager, Paulo Fonseca, deemed him surplus to requirements. Put on the chopping block, Adli has attracted inquiries from the Middle East.
But while Milan would gladly accept Al-Shabab’s proposal, the 23-year-old is reluctant to leave Serie A. Fonseca made his stance on the ex-Bordeaux playmaker clear in last night’s pre-season friendly against Manchester City. Milan won 3-2, but the French star failed to enter the fray despite Alessandro Florenzi’s first-half injury.
Fonseca paired the Italian veteran with Ismael Bennacer in the double pivot. Unfortunately, the former Roma man picked up an injury early in the first half, forcing the introduction of Tommaso Pobega. The new Milan tactician refused to bring Adli off the bench, sending the player a clear message that he’s free to go.
Adli’s potential departure would likely accelerate Youssouf Fofana’s arrival from Monaco. A lack of funds has prevented Milan from sealing the deal with the Ligue 1 side, but selling their out-of-favor midfielder could unblock negotiations.
