Milan Owner Cardinale Continues to Court Ibrahimovic

Milan patron Gerry Cardinale met with Zlatan Ibrahimovic again on Monday, as the Swedish legend was back in Italy for the second PSG clash. Their summit lasted two hours, but it doesn’t look like his return to the club is imminent yet, Sky Italy informs.

The Rossoneri want him back but have yet to fully define his role. The former striker will wait until that happens before accepting. The club is thinking about an institutional but also operational position. He doesn’t want to be just a brand ambassador. Instead, there’d be no issues financially.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, if everything goes well, the collaboration between Ibrahimovic and Cardinale will go beyond Milan. The former would be embroiled in the other businesses of the American tycoon as well.

The icon would become a partner for RedBird Capital and partake in some of its investments in media, sports, and entertainment, following LeBron James’s example. It doesn’t hurt that he was one of the first famous footballers to play in the MLS back in the day.

The timing of the second rendezvous between Cardinale and Ibrahimovic is random and isn’t correlated to the sticky patch Milan are going through at the moment. In the end, the ex-marksman might not formally enter their management at all, even though he’d visit with the squad from time to time.
