Milan Perfect Acquisition of Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea Following Loan

Fikayo Tomori is now fully a Milan player after an extra successful six-month loan spell. The Rossoneri officially activated the €28.5M option to buy him permanently from Chelsea. The 23-year-old defender has signed a contract until 2025.

Tomori joined Milan in January after playing little with the Blues in the first part of the season. He quickly proved to be a starting-caliber defender in Peninsula. He initially rotated with Simon Kjaer and Alessio Romagnoli and never left the XI once the latter suffered a calf injury.

The young defender finished his campaign with 17 appearances in Serie A, 4 in Europa League, and one in Coppa Italia. He found the target once, versus Juventus, in the best Milan performance of the season. With his muscularity and discipline, he contributed to the club’s return to the Champions League.

Tomori is the second richest acquisition since the Elliott fund took over Milan. Lucas Paqueta remains at the top of the chart with his €38.4M price tag. The young center-back may effectively supplant Romagnoli. The captain did not recapture the starting job once he got healthy. Since he has just a year left in the contract, the club is contemplating his sale.

Tomori is a product of the Chelsea youth academy and spent time on loan at Brighton, Hull City, and Derby County. He became part of the first team in 2019/2020 with Frank Lampard at the helm. He debuted with the English national team in October of 2019 against Kosovo, his lone cap with the Three Lions.
