Milan Player Ratings vs Roma: Saelemaekers Rescues Valuable Point

In the biggest showdown of Serie A Round 32, Roma hosted Milan at the Olimpico Stadium. While the original 90 minutes were mostly cagey, the encounter burst to life in injury time. Tammy Abraham thought he had given the Giallorossi a memorable win, but Alexis Saelemakers pounced on Rafael Leao’s cross to secure what could well be a priceless draw for the Rossoneri in the Top Four race. So here are our player ratings for Milan who return home with a valuable point following their 1-1 draw against Roma.

Milan (4-2-3-1)

Mike Maignan – 6

The former Lille custodian didn’t produce any fabulous saves, and could do little about Abraham’s opener. Nonetheless, he was always alert to the danger and managed to clear his line on several occasions.

Davide Calabria – 5.5

The Milan captain started on a bright note, but was reluctant to take his chances at times. His level dropped in the second half, and his howler gifted Leonardo Spinazzola a free run at goal.

Simon Kjaer – 6.5

The Dane was both confident and reliable at the back and was able to keep Abraham quiet. When he left the pitch in the second half, the Rossoneri still had a clean sheet.

Fikayo Tomori – 6.5

Aside from picking up a yellow card that earned him a midweek suspension, the Englishman looked solid at the back, keeping Andrea Belotti at bay. Sustained a knock late in the first half and had to vacate his spot at the interval.

Theo Hernandez – 5.5

An uninspiring display from the left-back who didn’t seem to be at his best physically. Didn’t surge forward as much as he usually does.

Sandro Tonali – 6

A decent shift in the middle of the park from the former Brescia man, but offered little in terms of creativity.

Rade Krunic – 6.5

The Bosnian made a goal-saving slide to deny Spinazzola. Managed to limit Lorenzo Pellegrini’s threat.

Brahim Diaz – 5.5

A forgettable outing from the Spaniard who struggled to make an impact on the right flank. Found little space on the width and Roger Ibanez had the better of him.

Ismael Bennacer – 6

A hard-working display from the Milan midfielder, but he lacked the quality touch in the final third.

Rafael Leao – 7

The Portuguese always had Zeki Celik and Gianluca Mancini on his heels, but still found mild success in his duels against them. Produced a brilliant assist for the last-gasp equalizer.

Olivier Giroud – 6

The former Arsenal man was provided with little service but he was eager to make the best out of it. Set up his teammates by winning aerial duels against Bryan Cristante.

Malick Thiaw – 6.5

A fine outing from the German who replaced Tomori at halftime. Pulled off a spectacular interception to deny Stephan El-Shaarawy.

Alexis Saelemaekers – 6.5

The Belgian wasn’t enjoying a memorable cameo. He couldn’t direct his volley goalward and gifted possession cheaply to Spinazzola. But in the end, he unveiled himself as the last-gasp hero for Milan by snatching a valuable equalizer.

Charles De Ketelaere – 5.5

The former Brugge star was displaying signs of improvement in this particular outing, but lost the ball that led to Abraham’s opener.

Pierre Kalulu – 5

The Frenchman failed to track Abraham’s movement in the box ahead of Roma’s goal, nor could he block the shot.

Divock Origi – N/A
