Milan Plot Future Attempt for Spurs Midfielder Lo Celso

Milan have reportedly earmarked Giovanni Lo Celso for the January window. The midfielder remained part of the Tottenham squad after consecutive loan spells at Villarreal. He has played very little so far, also because of a thigh injury.

Per Fichajes, a pair of factors could aid the Rossoneri. On top of his secondary role, the contract of the Argentine lasts only until 2025. The parties haven’t discussed an extension yet. Sans advancements, the Spurs will look for a way out in the next windows.

Besides Milan, Lo Celso has been linked to Napoli in multiple instances in the past. However, the Azzurri ultimately preferred signing younger players in his role.

Instead, the Rossoneri added three new midfielders, two of whom, Tijjani Reijnders and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, made an instant impact. They have been busy repelling bids for Rade Krunic in the last few weeks. Ismael Bennacer is expected to return from a knee cartilage problem in the winter.

The 27-year-old collected 51 appearances in 18 months at Villarreal, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists. He also starred for PSG and Real Betis after bursting onto the scenes with Rosario Central.

Our Take on Milan and Lo Celso

While he has featured in several positions, his future might be as a deep-lying playmaker. The Serie A giants could have used an extra one this summer, but it will be less of a necessity in January.
