Milan Plot Summer Move for Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca

Milan are reportedly eyeing up a summer swoop for Sassuolo loanee Gianluca Scamacca as a long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have identified the current Genoa forward as a perfect successor for the Sweden international.

Ibrahimovic is likely to extend his stay at the San Siro for another season. However, the 39-year-old is not getting younger, forcing Milan’s hand in the upcoming transfer window.

Stefano Pioli is keen to add an out-and-out centre-forward to lead the line in Zlatan’s absence, and Gianluca Scamacca ticks many of the boxes for the type of player he is looking to recruit.

Given his physical and aerial presence, Scamacca bears much resemblance to Ibra.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a decent loan spell at Ferraris so far this season, tallying nine goals and two assists in 24 appearances for Genoa. Only last weekend, the Italian prodigy was on the scoresheet as the Rossoblu succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at Juventus.

Milan will have the chance to witness Scamacca’s talents first-hand tomorrow, as the two sides meet at the San Siro in an exciting Serie A clash.

The highly-rated youngster is enthusiastic about the idea of deputizing for Ibrahimovic next season. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have been monitoring the striker’s progress throughout the season and are ready to launch a summer assault to bring him to Lombardy.

Yet, Scamacca won’t come cheap, with Sassuolo slapping a €30m price tag on their jewel’s head amid growing interest in his services. With Milan on the verge of returning to the Champions League after a seven-year absence, Paolo Maldini should have sufficient funds to get the deal over the line.
