Milan Prepare New Assault on Highly-Rated Ligue 1 midfielder

Milan are reportedly assessing the possibility of launching a new bid for the highly-rated Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara. After seeing their initial €12million offer knocked back by the Ligue 1 side, the Rossoneri are ready to pile more pressure on the French outfit to green-light the move.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the Serie A powerhouse are reluctant to abandon their pursuit of Kamara, particularly in light of the player’s contractual situation at Marseille. The 21-year-old has one year left to run on his current contract at the Stade Velodrome and has shown no interest in pledging his future to the club whatsoever.

Kamara’s firm stance on a potential renewal gives Marseille a sizeable headache heading into the summer transfer window. Les Phoceens can either agree on offloading the youngster in a cut-price deal or reconcile with the prospect of losing him on a free transfer in a year.

Though they remain open to the idea of selling the France U-21 international, the French giants have been adamant Kamara won’t leave for anything less than €20m. On the other hand, Milan have already deemed Marseille’s demands excessive and will be sticking to their guns.

Paolo Maldini and co are hopeful of landing the defensive midfielder to bolster competition in Stefano Pioli’s roster following Sandro Tonali’s underwhelming maiden season at the San Siro. But the Serie A titans will rely on Kamara’s efforts to force Marseille into sanctioning the deal on more favorable terms.

Kamara amassed 35 Ligue 1 starts in 2020/21, establishing himself as one of the finest midfielders in the French top-flight in the process. An aggressive, ball-winning midfielder, the youngster boasts an impressive physical presence and tactical prowess. His age and resale value perfectly fit Milan’s recruiting profile.
