Milan Prepare New Offer for Top Midfield Target

Despite facing numerous obstacles in their long-standing pursuit of Monaco ace Youssouf Fofana, Serie A runners-up Milan are unwilling to quit the race. According to today’s edition of Il Giornale, as reported by MilanNews, the Italians are preparing a substantial €20 million offer for Fofana.

Monaco have set a €30m price tag for their sought-after midfielder, even though his contract at the Stade Louis II runs out next summer. After several failed attempts to negotiate a discount, Milan have devised a new strategy to get the deal over the line.

Paulo Fonseca’s men are ready to include a future resale clause in favor of Monaco at around 10% in a last-ditch attempt to convince the French club to allow their wantaway star to continue his career at the Stadio San Siro. Indeed, Milan hope this would tip the scales in their favor after Manchester United reignited their interest in the 25-year-old.

Milan and Fofana have already agreed on personal terms. The former Strasbourg ace accepted a four-year contract worth €3m per season over a month ago. Keen to join the 19-time Serie A champions, the player has turned down several approaches, clarifying his ambition to join the Rossoneri.

However, talks between Milan and Monaco have never moved to square one due to the latter’s unpreparedness to budge on their valuation of Fofana. Perhaps this latest idea could flip the script, with time ticking away for the Rossoneri to reinforce their depleted midfield department.
