Milan Pursuit of Niclas Fullkrug Suffers Huge Blow

Atletico Madrid could spoil Paulo Fonseca’s bid to strengthen his attacking lineup at Milan with the addition of Niclas Fullkrug. According to German news outlet Bild, Los Rojiblancos are ready to table a significant €30 million offer for the robust striker.

Milan priced Alvaro Morata out of Atletico Madrid earlier this week. On top of the Spaniard’s arrival, the club handed prodigious 16-year-old Francesco Camarda his first professional contract on Saturday. But losing Olivier Giroud to Los Angeles FC has left a hole in attack.

Though Morata is a seasoned campaigner, Milan had hoped to include Fullkrug in their new-look frontline. However, Atletico Madrid’s €30m bid would blow the Rossoneri out of the water. That’s almost double the amount Borussia Dortmund paid Werder Bremen to sign him last summer.

Die Borussen spent €17m on the 31-year-old 12 months ago and would probably accept Atletico Madrid’s proposal in a heartbeat. Fullkrug’s off-the-bench performances at EURO 2024 impressed Diego Simeone, who’s ready to overtake Milan in the race for the German marksman.

It’s not all lost for Milan yet. Simeone reportedly sees the former Werder Bremen talisman as a potential game-changer off the bench, meaning he does not consider Fullkrug a first-choice striker. On the other hand, he’d probably have a more prominent role at Milan.

Therefore, Fullkrug could still choose Milan over the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. It remains to be seen whether the Italian powerhouse can assemble a satisfying proposal to match Atletico Madrid’s offer.

  1. There’s no point in having two veteran strikers better to have one old and good and one young with potential such as moukoko, and Dortmund said there willing to sell him for 20m which is perfect
