What started as pure speculation earlier in the summer is turning into a real deal as Milan accelerate talks to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham. According to Calciomercato, negotiations between the clubs are off and running, with the former Chelsea center-forward already giving the Rossoneri his blessing.
Milan are on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid stalwart Alvaro Morata. The 31-year-old will captain Spain in Sunday’s heavily anticipated EURO 2024 final against England. Afterward, he’ll travel to Italy to undergo medicals and put pen to paper on a multi-year contract.
If the rumors are true, Milan could announce Morata’s arrival within 48 hours. But they won’t stop there. Abraham was a fallback option for the Serie A runners-up during unsuccessful talks to bring Joshua Zirkzee to the Stadio San Siro.
However, after their hopes of landing the Dutch forward came a cropper, Milan are ready to pursue Abraham’s signature with more determination. Geoffrey Moncada is drawing up a plan to convince Roma to offload the Englishman without making a substantial financial sacrifice in the process.
Moncada’s idea is to send someone in the opposite direction. Milan initially thought about including Luka Jovic in a swap deal. Yet, Roma have shown no interest in the Serbian striker, forcing the Rossoneri executive to return to the drawing board.
Alexis Saelemaekers, who enjoyed a decent season-long loan at Bologna last season, is Moncada’s next pick. Though the Belgian might not be of Roma’s taste, they seem to like Milan winger Noah Okafor. But it’s hard to expect Moncada to let the Swiss leave after just one season.
