Milan Put Deep-Lying Playmaker Up for Sale

Yacine Adli enjoyed a decent breakout campaign at San Siro in 2023/24, yet there’s still a veil of mystery surrounding his future at Milan. According to Gazzetta dello Sport via MilanNews, last season’s Serie A runners-up will listen to offers for the French midfielder.

Following a disjointed first season at Milan, Adli found his footing last term, establishing himself among Stefano Pioli’s most trusted performers in the engine room. The 23-year-old took advantage of Ismael Bennacer’s injury woes to lock down regular first-team football.

Adli made 33 appearances across various competitions for Milan last season, including 24 in Serie A, contributing one goal and two assists. However, the managerial shift could spell the end of the Frenchman’s career in Lombardia.

New boss Paulo Fonseca will have to asses his options after succeeding Pioli at the helm. In addition to Adli, Bennacer’s future is under scrutiny as the Portuguese manager bids to overhaul his midfield. Milan plot a summer swoop for Monaco star Youssouf Fofana.

His potential arrival would require a sacrifice in the middle of the park, and Milan are ready to throw Adli under the bus. But they’ve yet to receive tangible offers for the former Bordeaux starlet. The Rossoneri parted with €8 million to sign the deep-lying playmaker in the summer of 2021.

Milan will look to recoup their investment. Considering Adli has fared well across the past 12 months, it shouldn’t be a problem, though it’s still up to Fonseca to decide.
