Milan Quietly Rivaling Inter to Sign Scamacca from Sassuolo

Inter have been chasing after Gianluca Scamacca for months, but the talks with Sassuolo are not advanced, which leaves an opening for Milan and other suitors. The Rossoneri have been less vocal about their intentions. However, they are rather keen on him too, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Rossoneri director Frederic Massara has been following the striker for a few years. They spent time together at Roma when he was a youngster. The starlet has drawn a lot of interest from foreign teams, in particular Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. However, he seems to prefer staying in Italy.

Therefore, Inter and Milan are the most natural landing spots for Scamacca. The other top Serie A sides already have young center-forwards. The Nerazzurri have been in touch with Sassuolo for a few weeks. However, their rumored packages have not blown away the counterpart.

The Rossoneri are mulling a few options to bolster their frontline next season. They will likely add a striker even if they re-upped the contract of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Olivier Giroud had to endure some injury issues earlier in the year as well. Andrea Belotti would be easier to sign as he will be a free agent and is eager to join. However, the front office might go after somebody with higher upside.

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali discussed Scamacca and Davide Frattesi to GR Parlamento amid the interest from Inter, Milan, and further sides: “We do not necessarily need to sell them. €65M would be a low fee for the duo.”
