Milan Reach Agreement with Villarreal for Chukwueze

Milan are about to complete another purchase, as they struck a deal with Villarreal to onboard Samuel Chukwueze. The winger is expected to land in Italy Tuesday or Wednesday to take the medicals and put pen to paper, SportMediaset informs.

The Rossoneri will pay €20M plus €8M add-ons. Despite some hard bargaining by the counterparty, they obtained a discount relative to the initial request. His contract would have run out in 2024, and he turned down an extension.

Chukwueze will be the seventh signing of the summer for Milan and the fourth up front after Christian Pulisic, Luka Romero, and Noah Okafor. The management proceeded despite having yet to find a new home for Junior Messias, Ante Rebic, and Divock Origi.

The Rossoneri have been chasing the Nigerian winger all summer long but had struggled to come to terms on the fee. They picked him over Daichi Kamada and Mehdi Taremi as far as extra-EU signings are concerned. They have now filled their quota.

Our Take on Milan and Chukwueze

The new front office has shown great determination when zeroing in on somebody. It obviously doesn’t hurt to have deep pockets. With their recent moves, they have addressed their needs for a more menacing right winger and a credible Rafael Leao backup.
