Milan Ready to Offload Talismanic Midfielder to Saudi Arabia

Ismael Bennacer could part ways with Milan in the coming months after becoming a concrete transfer target for Saudi Pro League clubs. According to Calciomercato, the Italians will entertain offers for the former Arsenal playmaker.

Milan tied Bennacer to a new long-term contract only last year. However, the Algerian’s long-term knee injury has derailed his career at Stadio San Siro. He made 20 league appearances in 2023/24, yet Stefano Pioli handed him just 13 starts.

Bennacer has three more years left to run on his deal at Milan. It puts the Rossoneri in a perfect position to make big bucks from his sale. They’ll reportedly entertain offers in the region of €50 million. Such a significant figure would probably unlock the incoming front.

Milan must make one high-profile sale to fund their recruitment campaign, similar to Sandro Tonali’s exit last summer. Offloading headline performer Rafael Leao would bring the Rossoneri a fortune. But they’re reluctant to lose their best player.

Leao has already rebuffed an approach from Saudi Arabia. If he does leave Milan, he’ll probably head to a top European club. On the other hand, Bennacer is no longer a sought-after property in Europe. Yet, he’s still an exciting prospect for Saudi Pro League clubs.

The 27-year-old’s exit would enable Milan to strengthen their grip on Joshua Zirkzee’s deal. Additionally, it would make room for a new holding midfielder. Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot are the leading candidates for the job.
